Mayweather WINS
Unanimous Decision!!!
TALE OF THE TAPE
Very evenly matched physically. Mayweather has the age advantage and that may be enough. Sugar Shane has only an inch or two in both reach and height. This is the most evenly matched opponent Floyd has perhaps ever faced.
STRENGTHS
Floyd pretty much has it all. The man is a true phenom of the sport and possesses just about every skill needed to be considered (one of) the best fighters on planet Earth.
Floyd's greatest stregnth is defense. The guy seems impossible to hit and is lightning fast. Floyd isn't just fast he's an incredible athlete who creates opportunities from speed. This is how he KO'd Ricky Hatton; with speed not power.
Shane is also a fighter who possesses crazy skills in every department. His main strength over Floyd will be his power. Shane has always been able to punch with both hands and if he catches Floyd it will be the punch heard round the world. It's not likely but it is possible.
Shane also posseses the same type of experince that Floyd has but more so simply because he's older. He's seen it all and will not be intimidated by anything Floyd does. Shane can "throw any punch in the book" as Bert Sugar put it.
WEAKNESSES
As stated many times in past Fight Reports, Floyd has no real weaknesses in the ring. However he does have issues out of the ring that could translate into problems anytime he fights.
A guy like Floyd (young, rich, undefeated) has so many distractions at any given time it is natural to think that at some point he will lose focus and come unprepared...but it hasn't happened yet and given the fact that Floyd is known for his gym dedication it probably won't be factor in this fight either.
At the moment the man's only weakness may be hubris.
Shane's main weakness in this fight will be age. Will he be able to keep up with one of the fastest fighters in history at the ripe old age of 39? Shane's skills have remained in tact otherwise he wouldn't be in this fight but it is worth considering. He has had trouble in the past with slick fast fighters.
Shane will have to be perfect in this fight plain and simple. Mistakes will kill him. He must keep his frustration in check and follow the game plan.
KEYS TO VICTORY
I think we've explored the keys to victory...so watch this instead! For you Josh.
Ok heres the scoop.... First, I would like to thank CCRECORDS for giving me this opportunity to give my prediction on this years first super fight. Sugar Shane Mosely will face off against the always boisterous and FORMER p4p king Floyd Mayweather. Folks, we all are gonna witness more speed than the Kentucky Derby on Saturday night. Sugar is one of the worlds most experienced fighters still in the game today and he is better than ever! He has been through hell and back with the steroid scandal and losses that would make most fighters quit. Still he has come back to the top with more skill and maturity in and out of the ring. Floyd on the other hand has earned his spot at the top, I wont take that from him. However has he ever been truly tested in the ring? NO! His speed and defense is unmatched and had the opportunity to face the best fighter in the world. Shane Mosley is the man that will finally make him work for the win. Floyd's "rope a dope" tactics will not work Saturday night. The recoil of this tactic takes advantage of slow punchers who cannot connect with a solid punch in time. Mosley has that speed and I believe will really scare Floyd for the first time. If he is brave enough to go toe to toe with Shane in the middle of the ring than we are in for one hell of a battle. My prediction: Sugar Shane Mosley in a majority decision. But a knockout would be epic!!!!!!!!! Just a spoon full of Sugar will make the Mayweather go down!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a really tough fight to predict; which is what makes it such a compelling match up. On one hand you've got arguably the greatest defensive fighter in the last 30 years (Floyd) versus one of the best all around boxers in as many (Shane). Ultimately the fight comes down to two factors ; speed and defense. I just don't see the older Mosley being able to solve either problem unless he happens to catch Floyd with a huge shot...very unlikely. You've got to be able to hit the man to KO him; I don't see Sugar Shane able to do that. He has trouble with slick speedsters and faces one of the best. Of course if I'm wrong so much the better I would love to see how Floyd would handle a loss. I just don't know if it will happen though. I see Floyd dictating the pace and countering Shane all night who won't be able to land the big rights. My prediction: I think the fight will go the distance and Mayweather will win a majority decision. I also predict a shitty undercard. It's boxing not MMA.

HERE IS THE FIGHT REPORT:
Shane Mosley vs Floyd Mayweather, MGM Grand, Las Vegas
Well it wasn't a great fight. Hell it wasn't even exciting except the second round. In the first round there may have been one or two punches thrown as each fighter circled with nervous energy then it was over. One round in the books and still no one had any idea what would happen. Then came the second round which saw both fighters start to throw a little. Suddenly Sugar Shane nails Mayweather with a right hand which clearly shook Money...then came a counter right by Mosley a few seconds later that truly buckled Floyd's legs. The crowd went nuts and jumped to their feet (as we did in our living rooms) as we all pondered the unthinkable, but Mayweather survived the round. This was exactly what many of us wanted to see. In fact Josh theorized that if Mosley could get to Mayweather with a hard shot we would finally see that he is all smoke and mirrors and his game plan would fall apart. This was a pretty good theory after all no one has ever really nailed Floyd flush. It didn't quite happen that way though. With the crowd buzzing the trainers worked on their men in the corner. Floyd looked as if he was embarrassed perhaps even a little scared now I thought, but actually he was simply forming a plan and making mental adjustments. As round three began it was clear that Floyd had quickly and fully recovered. He began to take over the fight, standing his ground and not only outboxing Mosley but also out punching Shane and the tide never turned back. Floyd simply adapted to his experienced opponent and proceeded to do to Sugar what he had done to forty guys before him. At the halfway point Shane was now looking tired and slow with no snap in his punches. In fact the fight became such a clinical domination that the only other remotely exciting thing that happened was in the eighth when the two fighters began shit talking each other while throwing punches. It was a very "street fight" moment. Floyd won that battle too. In the end Floyd had racked up 10 of 12 rounds against a great fighter who simply could not solve the puzzle that is Floyd Mayweather. Another unanimous virtuoso win by a guy who is truly living up to his own praise. I must praise him also...Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a great fighter who may have no equal...or does he?
Oh Pacman...where are you Pacman? Come out, come out wherever you are.
So will this fight be made? No one knows but it really is the only thing left for either man. I do think it will happen. Of course when it does we will all get excited and debate the outcome which is as much (or more so) a mystery as this was and I will make a new website and we'll all get buzzed about the possibilities. It is hard to imagine anything but a true super fight unlike this surprising dud. Sugar is a great fighter but it is within the realm of logic to argue he is past his prime. This won't be the case if Mayweather faces Pac. Both are in their primes and for the first time in many many years we could see literally number one vs number two....which is what we really wanted all along.
